LINE COLLECTION 2010/2011 Objectives: Introduction to line as a design element . To introduce fundamental design ideas/organizing principles: (harmony, variety, balance, proportion, movement, dominance, economy) To introduce unifying compositional devices: (rhythm, repetition, pattern, closure/implied, To investigate a variety of methods, tools and materials to make line compositions: (cutting, inking, gluing, matting, tissue overlay, scanner, printer, etc.) To Create awareness of the characteristics of line: (line type, measure, character, direction, location) This problem challenges you to make of collection of seven or more individual line compositions combined to make a personal book of lines. Seven is the absolute minimum number of pages in your book . A higher grade will be given for a larger number of line compositions/pages. However, poorly conceived and designed pages will result in a lower grade. The cover of your book
