1.0 Introduction Through thin shell theory, the pressure on the pressurised cylinder can be defined in two direction as Hoop stress and Longitudinal stress. This report aims to verify strain transformation theory and thin wall shell theory, and it also purposes to apply yield criteria to predict onset of yield. 2.0 Test Procedure Wall thickness/internal radius <1/10, so thin shell theory is applied. The experiment is divided into two conditions – Open End & Closed End. 2.1 Open End (i) Record the inner and outer diameters of the pressure vessel.
