Andrew Cheung Professor Lin Response Essay The Next Great Depression With much emphasis on the Great Depression and all of the troubles it brought with it, the author of this article begins to compare and contrast to bring light onto today’s situation. In my opinion this has it’s pro’s and con’s. Of course it is always great to look into the past to find what worked and what didn’t work, and to implement these in today’s policies or decisions so as to keep making progress. But I believe that in many respects this situation is different from the Great Depression and can’t always be compared as such. One of the first points the author makes, and probably by far my favorite is the idea that we must consider policy for more than just the monetary effects it will have. We need to also look at how the emotions of the people who will be using this money are affected, and through this determine our policy. It’s almost like a game of chess, having to read the moves ahead of time and the deeper you are able to see will ultimately lead
