Evolution focus questions
Introduction
1. When we say “Theory of Evolution”, what does this mean? Is this a single idea that
explains all of life? How is evolution related to the origin of life, and how should there
be a conflict between religion and evolution?
2. What is evolution? Was Charles Darwin the first to study and propose biological
evolution?
Evidence of evolution
3.
What evidence is there that evolution occurs (i.e. change takes place)? What is
selective breeding and how is it related to artificial selection? What are the results of
artificial selection?
4. What experimental or observations are there as evidence of evolution?
5. How does the fossil record support the idea that evolution has occurred? What sort
of patterns do we see for species in the fossil record? Can this be put in the form of a
testable hypothesis?
