Erica Broome Comm324 Reaction #5 I walked into this course at the beginning of this semester expecting to learn about a lot of things I assumed I already knew. However, I learned so much more about the significant role that gender plays when it comes to communication. Although I do believe we focused more on the female than the male in this course, what I learned about the ways in which we communicate in the home, the workplace, in places of education, and elsewhere helped me to realize the significant differences in the way men and women communicate. Learning about nonverbal communication and behaviors really interested me, especially the significance of nonverbal behaviors and the cultural values associated with them. Learning about what is expected of women and how those cultural expectations differ from men as well as from women of other societies helped me to understand that way may be foreign and strange to me could very well be the norm for another woman in a different culture.
