Erica Broome Assignment 2 VART1869 16/4/2010 The collection Autumn Masterpieces, now being exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, encompasses a wide range of artistic principles and interests. The gallery layout is unique yet quite simple. The walls are a bare and pure white, and the artwork is displayed on individual pedestals of different shades of white and different textures. Most pieces are placed on top of a long rectangular white or off-white pedestal, with the artwork laid in the center at the top of the pedestal. When thinking of the principle of proximity, the radius of empty space around each piece enables the viewer to focus more on that piece as its own work of art rather than just a part of a larger collection. The collection of white blocks supporting the artwork also create a sense of unity and continuity throughout the gallery. Since each piece is so radically different from each other and would not be connected in a larger gallery, the continuity of each
