Erica Broome Writers Here and Now Michael M. Phillips Engl296 No Greater Love is a classic tale that has been told too many times. It is a story of a war hero and the sacrifices he and his family made. It is a short essay, but a powerful one nonetheless. The story takes place in upstate New York. Our main character is a 22-year-old boy names Jason who is leaving to Iraq the next day. Before leaving his home, he tells his father what to do with his life insurance if he dies, which is a very real possibility. He even discusses with his mother the sort of ceremony and which uniform he would like to wear at his funeral, just in case. His parents are scared for him and his little brother is in awe of his macho and his courage. He leaves for Iraq the next day, and we are told of his position and how he is respected by all of his soldiers. He decides to stay in the military an extra few years to make sure that all of his soldiers get home alive. His bravery and his dedication seem unmatchable and almost unreal. There is one episode
