The purpose of this lesson is to expand the students mind to think of a collective history. It is important to look at an entire history and to be able to connect it with other historic events. The significance is the key to linking the past to the present and the future. Objectives: to learn-the difference between a short Civil Rights Movement and the long-why the Civil Rights Movement is important-how the Civil Rights Movement is connected to the rest of the world Prerequisite skills/knowledge: I would expect for the students to have a basic knowledge of the Civil Wars role of freeing the slaves and Reconstruction. Also they should also be aware of the fact that African Americans received full citizenship rights until the Redeemers redeemed the nation....
