IT <471> <Spring> <2011> Syllabus Page 2 of 9 The prerequisite for this course is IT 101 (or an equivalent course) and at least Junior standing in program; or permission of department . A grade of "C" or better must be achieved in the prerequisite course before a student is qualified to take this course. The prerequisite course must be completed prior to, not concurrently with, this course. This requirement will be strictly enforced . Any student who does not meet the prerequisite requirement will be dropped from the course by the Instructor at the start of the semester and the student will be responsible for any consequences of being dropped. Rationale Information Technology is powering the Digital Revolution. Any information technology professional needs to be exposed to a variety of cutting edge digital electronics equipment, design and manufacturing techniques to be proficient in the field of IT. This course exposes individuals to a wide array of classic as well as state of the art digital electronics technology. Objectives On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand the technical foundations of digital technologies 2. Gain exposure to current issues surrounding the digital electronics industry and acquire the ability to discuss them with a large audience 3.
