Topic Proposal James Britt Will Andrew Jackson’s On Indian Removal: The Presidents Message to Congress be remembered and relevant to American literature in 50 years? My argument will be that it will be very important to American literature. Mainly because of whom the author was and the actual issue of the Literary work. This particular author is very compelling to me because he appears on the twenty dollar bill and all the controversy around him involving Indian removal. It has been said several time that this was the unhappiest time of American history. This Particular work tells about a message to congress and explains his views on the subject. Some things I already know about the author are that; Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States, he served as an officer in The War of 1812, and that there are tons of roads named in his honor including US HWY 74 from charlotte, NC to Willington, NC.

Unformatted text preview: Things I need to learn about this work and author to support my argument that this piece of work will be remembered and relevant to American literature in 50 years is a lot. I need to get to know why the Author thought what he wrote, what experiences he had to make him feel this way. I need to know how this piece of American literature has already shaped our views and opinions as a culture. Other than that I would like to know the reactions of the Democratic party of the time when he wrote this message. I will use a vast range of research tools to find thing that support my argument including libraries and archives, books and databases. Some of these include the state of Tennessee and North Carolina liberties, White House public documents searching; Censuses that they may or may not have and I will look for some reaction testimonials from Indian authors....
