Unformatted text preview: ENU 4134 Counter-Current Two-Phase Flow D. Schubring July 28, 2010 Learning Objectives I 1-g-i Explain the nature and origin of counter-current flow and identify the nuclear-relevance of this condition I 1-g-ii Use correlations to models counter-current flow reversal and flooding Counter-current Flow Flow regime transition in counter-current flow tend to be sudden , indicative of fluid instability-based changes. The transition from counter-current (gas upward, liquid downward) to mixed upward/downward liquid is termed flooding . The transition from co-current (upward) to mixed upward/downward liquid is termed flow reversal . Small-scale flow reversals may be linked to the transition from annular to (both types of) churn flow.
