1.0 Introduction Management is considered to be an important aspect in human activities. Going back to the time when human beings started forming social organizations, management has become an important phenomenon in planning, organizing, supervising, implementing and accomplishing aims and objectives that could not be done as individuals. Being the case, management has been essential to ensure the coordination of individual efforts towards attainment of organizational/community goals. It is stated that as society continuously relied on group efforts, and as many organized groups become large, the task of managers is increasing importance and complexity; henceforth, managerial theory has become crucial in the way managers manage complex organizations (Olum, 2004). On the other hand, it is deductively argued that one of the principal objectives of management is to secure maximum prosperity for the employer coupled with maximum prosperity of each employee (win - win situation). The “maximum prosperity” here mean development of every branch of the organization to its highest state of excellence, so that the prosperity may be permanent while “maximum prosperity” for employees is to acquire higher wages than are usually received by men/women of their class, also development of each man/woman to his/her state of efficiency so that he/she may be able to do, generally speaking the highest grade of his/her natural ability fit for him/her in that particular organization. This can be achieved if and only if both parties arrange their mutual relations so that their interests become identical. Henceforth, prosperity of the employer can not exist through a long term of years unless it is accompanied by the prosperity of the employees and vice versa (Thompson, 2003). In that respect then, one of the key to successfully management is the ability of the managers to understand and apply modern management theories, principles and techniques, knowledge of past and present models and process in order to manage effectively and intelligently.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
