Persuasive Speech Outline Topic: Has technology helped connect people, or isolate them? Purpose: To convince the audience that while technology has communication benefits it tends to isolate people from the outside world, and how and why we need to take our time back from technology. Thesis: Today we will discuss that even though technology has helped to make communication easier it has actually made it easier for people to isolate themselves from the outside world. Introduction I. Picture yourself eating dinner at home with your family, when all of a sudden, a notification appears on your phone. a. The notification happens to be from a boy, who you happen to have met on online. b. You open the message and begin being engaged in conversation with him immediately. i. Forgetting the fact that you’re eating dinner with your family. II. Your family tries to have a conversation, but you’re too distracted by your phone talking your friend whom you’ve never met. III. Thesis: Today we will discuss that even though technology has helped to make communication easier it has actually made it easier for people to isolate themselves from the outside world. IV. Connect: Have you ever thought how technology may be affecting your relationships?
V. Or how you might miss and important moment or information because you were distracted by your phone? ( Transition: Now that we know what we are going talk about let us begin with how and why technology is causing this isolation.) Problem I. Problem: We are losing touch with face to face interaction.
