Intro to Human Anatomy and Physiology 1. Anatomy is the study of structure while physiology is the study of function. 2. A tissue is a group of cells that are similar in structure and function and work together. 3. What is an organ? A group of tissues that work together to perform a particular task 4. What is an organ system? 2 or more organs that interact to perform a particular task. 5. What is homeostasis? Making and keeping balance within an internal environment (like keeping your body temp at 96 F) 6. Describe negative feedback. The presence of the product or result of a process turns OFF the process (i.e. process has done its job so it is time to turn it off so that energy and resources are not wasted) 7. Describe positive feedback. The presence of the product or result of a process turns ON the process 8. Match the tissue type with the corresponding functions: Contraction Lining for organs Storage Support Transport communication
