Google, 804 F.3d 202 (2d Cir. 2015)Facts:The Authors Guild of the United States is the plaintiff Google Inc. is the defendantIn December 2004, Google teamed up with major research libraries around the world to start Google’s Library Project. The intention of the project was to allow researchers bits and pieces of information from books they were researching with the option to purchasethe book in its entirety.The project meant that millions of books would be digitally copied without consent fromthe authors of said material. This lead to the Author’s Guild and Association of American Publishers (AAP) to file lawsuits against Google in late 2005 on behalf of these authors.Google’s stance was that by providing a massive book-search program there is great public service never before seen and Google should be protected from copyright under the “fair use” doctrine.The Author’s Guild believed that “fair use” can’t be claimed in this situation unless the
