Seed beads mimic the threadwork used to fill in the center squares. step by step Bracelet base [ 1 ] Thread a needle on 2 yd. (1.8m) of conditioned thread (Basics), leaving a 6-in. (15cm) tail. [ 2 ] Working in ladder stitch (Basics), make a four-bead ladder using size 2 bugle beads (figure 1, a–b) . Repeat three times to make three separate segments (b–c, c–d, and d–e) . Snug up each segment to the previous one. [ 3 ] Sew through the first bugle of the first ladder segment to form a square (e–f and photo) . [ 4 ] Pick up a bugle and snug it up to the first ladder segment (f–g) . [ 5 ] Sew a four-bugle ladder (g–h) . [ 6 ] Sew back through the ladder segment made in step 5 and the fourth ladder segment made in step 2 (figure 2, a–b) . [ 7 ] Sew two four-bugle ladder segments (b–c and c–d) . Sew through the end bugle of the ladder segment made in step 5. [ 8 ] Repeat steps 4–7 until your bracelet is the desired length. Add thread as needed (Basics). To change the bracelet length, add or omit ladder segments in groups of three. [ 9
