David Park History Chapter 8 1. It corrected the problem of the rotten boroughs by redistributing the seats in the House of Commons, giving representation to large towns and cities. Also, enlarging the body of people allowed to vote by granting more men the right to vote. 2. Adult men and women were added to the British electorate in 1918. 3. They demanded the uses of secret ballots because it allowed people to cast their votes without announcing them publicly. 4. They favored free trade because it gave them the ride to trade between countries without quotas, tariffs, or other restrictions. 5. They need to form coalitions because they need to be friends with different groups so they could get their help and support. 6. They establish the penal colonies because they need a place to transport criminals who committed petty crimes. 7.
