Amelia Burns English 2000 Pappas Exercise 2i #2-3 2. My first ad is advertising a new Covergirl lip stain. The reason it is not like others is because of its application process. The lip stain is applied as lipstick but supposedly lasts much longer and is not as harsh in appearance. The ad shows Drew Barrymore, a very popular actress, in a setting with shining white light around her and soft edges throughout the shot. Her hair is flowing and seems to be blown softly by wind. At the bottom of the ad it says “the lipwear that does what a lipstick can’t.” Barrymore is also wearing a “younger” version of red—pink. All of the colors in the ad are soft and pastel. The softness of Barrymore’s appearance and stance demonstrates how the new lip stain is soft and easily worn. The phrase “what a lipstick can’t” is bigger and bolder than the other words as well. This is implying the difference between older and more traditional versions of lipwear. Everything about the ad erases hard lines. This ad is aimed
