Lab 24: Numerical Integration, Part II Last Modified 04/06/2009 Key Concepts: numerical integration, importing data into Matlab, xy-plotting in Matlab, bar graphs in Matlab, vectors in Matlab This lab will follow-up on what you did in the Numerical Calculus Project. Groups For this lab, you must work in a group of 4 students. Each group must be distributed such that One member of the group implemented left-hand sums One member of the group implemented right-hand sums One member of the group implemented the Midpoint Rule One member of the group implemented the Trapezoid Rule Project assignments were made so that each section has roughly the same number of people who did each of the four quadrature techniques. You will be first be given the opportunity to sign for groups in advance, allowing you to choose people you feel are responsible enough to do their homework before the lab. Otherwise, you will be assigned a group in class. If a member of a pre-planned group is absent, that group member will be replaced in class, thus not jeopardizing the rest of the group. Those who do not attend class will not earn credit for this lab. Those who arrive late will be required to attend a later section to be eligible for any credit. No students who arrived in class on time will be forced to work with those who did not. Individual Pre-Lab Homework Individually, each person in the group needs to generate some output. Set up your program so that it is working with f ( x ) = 1/ x + 3sin x - 2 on the interval [0.25, 2.25] using 8 subintervals. Call your method to generate a file with the output data specified in the project.
