Table A lists the position (latitude, λ , and longitude, φ ) of the paleomagnetic pole for North America for various times over the past 150 Ma. K and A 95 are precision parameters and can be ignored. Calculate the magnetic inclination and magnetic declination at the following 3 locations for each time in Table A: New York City, NY Seattle, WA Austin, TX Use this information to re-position the North America continent to its location at 150 Ma, 100 Ma and 50 Ma. This will involve both rotating the continent and moving it latitudinally. In order to complete this problem you will need to use spherical triangles – these differ from planar triangles in important ways. The necessary formulas appear in a number of texts including CRC Tables, math texts, etc.

The apparent resistivity values given in the Table are largely those due to a 2-layer structure. Using the attached log-log graph paper, construct an apparent resistivity vs electrode spacing plot for the values. Use the characteristic curve method of interpreting these values in order to determine the true resistivity of each layer and the thickness of the upper layer.
