I. Identify personal interests. You will now zero in on some key words that identify your personal interests. You will receive an activity sheet with a number of words on it. Read over the words and circle the five that interest you the most. At the bottom of the sheet in the blanks rank those five words. The most important interest will be one, the next most important two and so on. You will have two minutes to complete this. Pass out sheets and allow students about two minutes to read over and complete. Nice work! Now we are going to “get musical.” Look at the sheet we just completed. We are going to write a song or rap using the key words that represent your career interests. All we have to do is re-write the words to a song we know using the words that represent your career. You can offer the song, or give them the opportunity to use a song of their choosing. Examples of easy songs to re-write include: Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star, Row Row, Row Your Boat, Take Me Out to the Ball Game. After 10 minutes solicit volunteers to sing or recite their song.
