BDIC F ACULTY  S PONSORS     All BDIC sponsors must be faculty members with the rank of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor, or lecturer at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst during the entire term of their sponsorship. Staff members and graduate students, regardless of their other campus responsibilities, are ineligible. Sponsors are an integral part of a student’s BDIC program. The primary function of a sponsor is to serve as the student’s chief advisor. The sponsor should take an active interest in the student and also be available as an advisor for the duration of the student’s program.

This expertise is essential when advising on course selections, graduate school possibilities and professional opportunities. BDIC sponsors are asked to: 1. Read, approve, and sign the student’s BDIC proposal 2. Discuss and sign all relevant independent study/practicum contracts 3. Approve and sign any changes to concentration 4.
