Consumer Behavior Take-home Quiz 4 Dongni Wang Prof. Watson Feb. 25 th , 2010 How can you increase positive perceptions of Rutgers within New Jersey? We could work on people’s perceptual system to increase their positive perceptions of Rutgers within New Jersey. Since people selectively choose their exposure to certain stimuli and avoid others, we could place Rutgers within media in which people are interested, such as in movies being themed with colorful campus life and events about school-choosing. Because of the selective nature of people’s attention, we could repeat the exposure of Rutgers in media that people don’t try to avoid. In order to make people generate positive feelings toward Rutgers, we could position it as a university with comparatively high quality but low price. We could involve people who have graduated from Rutgers and now do well in their careers in the promotion of Rutgers. When these graduates with different social, racial, and financial backgrounds are presented to the target market (New Jersey), people may perceive that Rutgers could be a good
