Erick Burkett 09-16-10 Management and Me I believe the definition of management to be the action of overseeing a company or a group of people to make sure everything is in accord with the way operations should be going while always looking for new ideas and ways to improve upon. Along with looking for ways to improve, 'good' managers must have the the ability to take control of tough situations. This can range from issues between employees, to coming up with a new idea on how to make a business more profitable. Good managers must also make sure that the direction of the company is on the right track and not only oversee employees but to set goals and incentives, this will motivate employees to want to work more efficiently and in turn benefit the company. While going through the text for today's class this quote stuck with me. "Leaders have to be very self-aware. They have to understand their flaws, their own behavior, and the impact they have on others- Terri Kelly CEI if W L Gore & Associate". These are truly characteristics of a
