The basic principles of scientific methodology and its applications to the life sciences will be illustrated through lab demonstrations. This is a general Life Sciences course designed for students who plan to transfer to programs in the health sciences. All course material will be posted on the Blackboard website: http://uclaextension.blackboard.com/ . Be sure to check this website frequently for important announcements. Goals and Learning Objectives: To gain an understanding of physiological systems and concepts, as well as, familiarity with laboratory techniques. Required Texts : Sadava, Heller, Orians, Purves and Hillis , Life, The Science of Biology , 8th edition, 2008. Sinauer Associates, Inc.: Sunderland, Freeman and Co.: Gordonsville, VA .
