Axia College Material Appendix C The Four Functions of Management Description of Event Working as an assistant manager at a bakery, most of my duties included overseeing other employees, scheduling deliveries and events, ordering products, and overseeing production when the store manager was not available. In the table below, categorize your actions during the event under each of the four functions of management. Planning Organizing Planning was a daily part of my duties within this business. Items had to be made on certain days by certain times in order to have them available for events such as weddings and bachelor(ette) parties, and standing daily orders to be delivered promptly and proficiently. Organizing all of the orders was a major part of this business as well. Sometimes certain special items had to be prioritized according to due dates and the labor time it would take to make high scale, high priority items such as wedding cakes. This

Leading Controlling It was my job to ensure that other employees were producing quality products according to high standards of taste and appearance. All of our products had to be absolutely top quality, while making sure that everything was being made correctly according to what a customer ordered. It was my duty to make sure these tasks were done in a timely, proficient manner at all times. As an assistant manager my job was to be in control of quality, employee performance, keeping the store clean and sanitary at all times, as well as making sure all employees were held to the same standards at all times. I also controlled the delivery of products and ordering of products needed for producing inventory. If I overlooked any items that were needed, I was held accountable for the set back that resulted.
