1 ECED3201: Introduction to Electronics Fall 2009 Dalhousie University, Department of Electrical and computer Engineering Assignment #9 Due date: Monday November 30, 2009 at 1:00pm. Late submission will not be accepted. In all the following problems consider r o = ( = 0), k n = n C ox , and k p = p C ox . Problem 1 [3 pts]: The NMOS transistors in the circuit of Fig.1 have k n = 120 A/V 2 , V t = 1V, and L 1 =L 2 = 1 m. Find the required values of gate width, W, for each of Q 1 and Q 2 , and the value of R, to obtain the voltage and current values indicated. ( Hint: you will find W 1 = 8 m ). Fig.1 Problem 2 [4 pts]: For each of the circuits in Fig.2, the PMOS transistors are characterized by |V t |= 2V and k p (W/L) = 1mA/V 2. Find the labeled node voltages. ( Hint: you will find V 5 = -5V and V 7 = 2V ). Fig.2
