CSE115 Lab 8 Fall 2009 Introduction We have finally gotten to the last lab of the semester! This lab builds on what you did in lab 7, but don’t worry if you didn’t quite complete lab 7: we are providing our solution that you can use as a starting point for lab 8, if you want (you can certainly base lab 8 on your own lab 7 solution if you’d like). In lab 7 you built part of what we need for the memory game: you were able to display cards on a JPanel, and flip the cards when clicked. In lab 8 we have to incorporate the rules of the game. You have two full weeks of recitation to work on the lab, and there are two main parts to lab 8. We suggest that you do the basic gameplay during the first week, and that you incorporate the timing as part of the second week. Whatever strategy you choose to complete the lab, start right away, and plan so that you can ask questions during office hours if needed. The problem with waiting to the last minute to start is that if you do have questions, you may not have an opportunity to get your questions answered! To get a better idea of what the finished lab 8 should do, run a lab demo by typing, at the Linux prompt: cd /projects/CSE115/Fall2009 java -jar FA09-CSE115-Lab8.jar NOTE: This jar file contains no source code. Decompiling this demo is a flagrant violation of the policy on academic integrity and will minimally result in immediate failure in the course. The demo will be shown in recitation. Preparatory tasks if you are working with YOUR lab7 solution 1. Log in 2. Start Eclipse 3. Switch to the CVS Repository Exploring perspective 4. Check out the FA09-CSE115-Lab8-InterfacesOnly project from the Labs repository 5. Copy ONLY the classes (IMPORTANT: not the interfaces!) from your FA09- CSE115-Lab7 project into the correct packages in the FA09-CSE115-Lab8- InterfacesOnly project. 6. Now you’re set up to continue with lab 8. Preparatory tasks if you are working with OUR lab7 solution 1. Log in 2. Start Eclipse 3. Switch to the CVS Repository Exploring perspective 4. Check out the FA09-CSE115-Lab8-Everything project from the Labs repository 5. Now you’re se t up to continue with lab 8.
