• How would you evaluate and manage a pediatric patient who has BP and BMI greater than what is expected for his/her age group? Which additional conditions would you want to screen for and why? In order to evaluate and manage a pediatric patient who has hypertension and or obesity concerns, we want a weekly weight and BP chart. We also want a log of what the patient is eating, how much they are being active each day, what their screen time is every day and a thorough history of their sleeping habits. This allows the practitioner to evaluate what lifestyle changes need to be addressed, and/or if these habits are not contributing to the weight and BP concern then further testing is warranted. This would include being screened for diabetes as well as any thyroid issues. Understanding what is the cause of the increased weight and blood pressure is how we would create a treatment plan for this patient. • What physical exam findings and diagnostic results would be concerning to you in this patient and why? What would be three differentials in this case?
