Date: November 17, 2010 To: Mike McCann, Chairman, Selection Committee From: Sara Newell Subject: Proposition for this year’s charitable cause Dear Mr. McCann: Every year the selection committee chooses a wonderful cause to support. I would like to propose the Village Garden Society’s Tree Plantation Drive as this year’s charitable cause. The Village Garden Society will plant one Jacaranda tree for every $50 Bank of America donates. For just $2,500, 50 Jacaranda trees will be planted around the city of San Diego. What better way to get Bank of America employees involved in their community, contribute to a local, non-profit organization, build company social responsibility, and help the environment? If enough trees are planted, the Village Garden Society is determined to hold an annual Jacaranda Tree Festival. Similar tree festivals, such as the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan and Washington, DC, attract visitors from all over the world. Imagine the impact a festival of this magnitude could have on
