Chapters 14 and 15 Notes Examples Page 1 of 4 Example During the cold winter months a restaurant in the Northeast features a hot cereal specially prepared a few hours before opening. The chef wants to anticipate the daily demand, since the cereal is only made once each day. Based on his observations of sales over a long time, the chef believes that the number of sales each day is dependent on the outside temperature. To develop a more accurate method of forecasting sales, he randomly selects 10 days from last winter and examines the number of hot cereal sales and the daily temperature low forecasted for his town. Below is a scatterplot of the low temperature (in Fahrenheit) and cereal sales for those 10 days. Describe the overall pattern (form, direction, and strength) of the relationship between low temperature and cereal sales. There is a moderately strong negative linear relationship between low temperature and cereal sales.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
