The Logic Twelve-Step Program A Program for Those Troubled with Deductive Logic I. Introduction The PHIL 110 (Deductive Logic) Twelve-Step Program is designed for those students that are having serious problems with symbolic logic. I have received a number of emails that have asked, “How can I improve in the course?” or “How am I going to pass this course?” I have developed a Twelve-Step Program that, if followed, should put you in an excellent position to do well on the Final Exam. II. The Program: 1. The first step to any twelve-step program is to admit that you have a problem, an addiction of sorts. More than likely, you have either failed to come to class (i.e. you have truancy issues), failed to read the text (maybe even failed to own the text), failed to do the HW problems, failed to attend the numerous study sessions given I have given. ..etc. You have probably committed one or more of these actions on a regular basis, which has put you into a troublesome position in the course. So, the first step is to admit that you have a problem – shout, “I am a logic neglector!” – and fully devote yourself to this twelve- step program. 2. The second step to recovery is to begin, or continue, to come to class. Most of you are not doing well this semester because of truancy issues, i.e. you FAIL to come to class on a regular basis. Let’s end this addiction!
