How do social movements bring about change? What is Sociology? The study of human behavior in society o Systematic Study- scientific method Face to face interactions; functions of formal organizations and whole societies Rules for living together- who makes them? How they affect us? A social science that helps us understand social issues, problems, and current events o The economy, unemployment, music genre preferences Provides a unique perspective-focuses on the social forces/social locations that affect human behavior Social Forces on You Institutions o Family o Education o Media Socio Economic Status Gender Race/ethnicity
