Course Information Dr. Kathleen (Kit) Schafer, RN, MS, DNP Office: 206 Office hours by appointment Phone: 765-563-6209 (home) Phone Emergency: 765- 490-4385 (cell) [email protected] Course Number and Title: NUR 206 – Health Assessment Pre-Requisites: BIO 203/204, CHM 111/112, CS 110, ENG 106, NSG 102, PSYCH 120, SOC 100 or consent of instructor Note: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), all qualified students enrolled in this course are entitled to “reasonable accommodations”. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of any special needs before the end of the second week of classes. Responsibilities of the Student Reading It is essential that you complete the reading and weekly DVD assignments prior to class. Come prepared to discuss weekly topic. Use the lecture objectives to help you prepare and study. Attendance Attendance in class will be taken during the semester. There will be unannounced quizzes given during the semester. There are no make-up quizzes. Students are expected to attend all classes and are held responsible for content presented. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the information presented. Non attendance at classes may decrease the student’s ability to be adequately prepared to function in clinicals and to successfully pass examinations. Exams Exams will cover class presentations and required readings. You must notify the professor prior to an exam if you will miss. No later than 7am on the day the exam is scheduled. Faculty will decide on the time and type of exam to be given to the student who was unable to take the original examination. Students are expected to arrive on time for exams. Any student coming in late will be given no extension beyond the time allotted for the exam. Students earning an exam grade of 70% or below are to assume the responsibility for initiating a conference with the professor. Students who are absent from exams and have NOT notified faculty that they will be
