Week 13 Key Term List Reasons for bipedality Carrying- objects, tools, weapons, infants Hunting- allowed carrying of weapons, more accurate throwing of weapons, and improved long-distance walking Gathering and foraging- seed and nut gathering, feeding from bushes Visual surveillance- better view of surrounding countryside, view of potential predators and other group members Thermoregulation- exposes less of the body to direct sun, increased exposure to breezes Male provisioning- carried back resources to dependent females and young The aquatic model (what are the benefits)- quadrupeds would have drowned in wet area or when trying to cool off Paleoanthropology Definition- reconstruct the anatomy and behavior of ancestors What do they study?
