Publisher: McGraw-Hill, 10 th edition, ISBN: 9780077306298. This text is available at most bookstores supplying the university, and at http://shopmcgraw-hill.com . You have a few options for purchasing the required materials. The content and page numbers will be the same, but the format is different. 1) The cheapest option is to buy this book ‘used’ without purchasing the online access code. We will use e-learning anyway for the online information, which is free. The online resources are not ‘required.’ OR 2) If you want the book and the online resources, you can: a. buy the used book for around $75 (anywhere you can find it. One source is half.com. And buy the online resources for the book called ‘Connect Lucas’ for around $20 through Connect Lucas or the bookstore). b. buy the new book which includes Connect Lucas for around 115.00 at the bookstores or a little cheaper directly at shopmcgraw-hill.com OR c. buy the book as an e-book by going to shopmcgraw-hill.com and getting ‘Connect Lucas Plus’, which is the e-book integrated with extra resources and videos. COURSE FORMAT AND OBJECTIVES: The objective of this class is to provide you with the skills and confidence to present organized and researched speeches on topics of your choosing. The class will be broken down into three areas: lecture, speeches, and exams. We will discuss the needed skills of speech preparation and presentation. It is very important to keep up with all the readings and take notes on all the lectures. This is primarily a performance-based class. You will be expected to integrate class materials
