Information processing is getting faster. We can get any information about what happened from the other side of the earth in only ten minutes. The Internet process millions of messages every single second. Therefore, the information management is getting more important. People do need a perfect information system to control information transmission and volume of information. Our groups project is the research of the information control in modern society. After our groups analysis, we decide to research these fields of information control in the following list: 1. Information control in China 2. Information control in US 3. Export information control 4. Import information control 5. Internet information control Information Control in China Peoples Republic of China, commonly know as China, is the largest country in East Asia, with a population of over 1.3 billion. It is led by Communist Party of 1 Team Report; Yiheng Pan, Matt Williams, Shuting Wei, Yuxin Guo, Zhuowei, Li China, as a single party system since the states establishment in 1949. Communism was propagandized by capitalist countries as evil, fascism and despises human rights. However, as a person who was born there, I know exactly how the communists have historically explained the definition of communism, and their point of view is totally opposite to Western countries. But the truth is, information control was happening in China, and still exists today. In the first few years after the new country was established, the government listened to all of voices from all of classes of this country. They were trying to solidify their position. However, capitalism was not welcome in any communist country. Therefore, the government began to use media to manipulate peoples minds, appeal to everyone to eliminate class enemies. The Xinhua News Agency was the only one media to show and distribute the information to the people of the whole country. If they found anyone did not follow their rules, they will use media or a state machine (military or police) to manipulate or censor them. (He, 2004) The culture revolution and 1989 Tiananmen crackdown were two examples about information control in China. With the development of technology, the information control in China is becoming more difficult than before. People can get more information through the Internet. However, until now, the government of the Peoples Republic of China still place strict limitations on its domestic and foreign media. Information that is considered politically sensitive or that conveys organized dissent and criticism of the Communist Party is not tolerated.
