Pg#3 brings us new fashions and living styles, including high-tech products, hobbies, stylish clothes, outdoor activities, etc. “The Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry is poised to enter a golden era. One of the largest markets in the world, the industry is seeing strong growth and has the potential to garner US$ 200 billion by 2015.”(Media Entertainment is powerful enough to set these new trends. Starting off with fashion, many companies get entertainers to wear their stuff for exposure. Apparel companies publish new products through dressing them on entertainers. Taking the Academy Awards as an example, fashion designers pay celebrities to wear their works simply because when people see Brittany Spears wearing a dress from, i.e., Gucci, whatever it is it may turn out to be hot and bring unexpected business. Why does fashion change frequently? The answer could be that whenever an influential celebrity changes his or her style, chances are so will his/her fans. So does popular high-tech products. When famous people use new types of technology, the technology itself becomes famous and their fans start to purchase it. Examples are I - phone and blackberry. Even with newly released cars, some companies put there newest car model into what could be a blockbuster hit. The effect of idol has so far produced incredible. For one thing, the purse of particular TV station is bulging, and the other aspect the recreation businesses as well as the media are greatly profited. Beginning with American Idol , the idol culture is becoming popular worldwide.

Liang Wang, How are idols created by the media? Pg#4 Many people assume that idol culture is what popularity is all about. Does pop culture reflect the true culture of idol? Yes and no. Pop idol does represent a portion of entertainment--- especially urban young people that are tuned in to the media. Besides the strengths of these idols themselves, strategies of creation also promote the success, particularly in the ways of setting emotional and ethical appeals. These scenes can often be seen in the hottest TV shows in China, such as Super Gir l and One Million Star . That official station this summer broadcast a groundbreaking singing contest in which viewers were asked to vote for their favorites by cell phone message, "American Idol"-style. The show, "Mongolian Cow Sour Yogurt Super Girl Contest," was such a hit across the country that state media estimated that 20 million people watched the final episode and that millions happily
