Guo Yuxin N C1 #15 Professor Farber Arts 2203, section 1 20 October 2007 Reflection of Outside Concerts #1 October 18, 2007, Atlanta Symphony Hall Artists: 12 Girls Band The concerts performed in Symphony Hall at 8:00pm and I arrived there 20 minutes earlier. It is called 12 Girls Band but actually, there are 13 women performers in their group. All of them are good at some kinds of traditional Chinese instruments, such as the erhu (the Chinese fiddle), the pipa (a pear-shaped lute), the guzheng (an Eastern zither), a yangqin (or hammered dulcimer), the dizi (a transverse flute), xiao (a vertical flute), and the duxianqin (a single-stringed zither). When I was in China, I bought one of their albums, so I am familiar with their musical form: performing on traditional Chinese instruments, this band adds a decidedly Western twist to centuries- old Chinese folk songs.
