Math 131 Calculus I Syllabus Spring 2011 Instructor Katherine Bird Loyola Hall Room 315 773.508.3565 [email protected] Required Text book: D. Hughes-Hallett, A. Gleason, et al, Applied Calculus with Wiley-Plus, 4th edition, Wiley (2009), ISBN: 978-0470-57877-3 Note: Alternatively, a student may purchase Wiley-plus since an online version of the entire textbook is included. Calculator: TI-84 Plus graphing calculator or equivalent is required. Homework Assignments: You will be assigned homework problems from the text book. These will be posted on Blackboard. You will be expected to complete these in a timely fashion. Generally, they should be completed before the next lecture. They will not be collected. However they should kept in a homework binder. Your assignments should be clearly written up and your binder should be well organized in readiness to share with me on occasion. I cannot stress enough the importance of doing your homework. It is your responsibility to make every effort to ensure that your solutions are correctly worked and that you understand them. Though I encourage you to work with your classmates you must write up your own solutions.
