Experiment 7: Diode Applications Introduction: The purpose of this lab report is to inform the lab assistant that I’ve worked through the lab and gained an adequate amount of experience in doing so. The information in this lab deals with diodes and light emitters. Objective: The main objective of this lab is to observe the applications of diodes in logic circuits as well as light emitters and detectors. Procedures: First, we connected to diodes side by side. One outer side of each diode we connected a 47Ω resistor and grounded them. In between the diodes, we connected a 1kΩ resistor and grounded it. We connected input 1 to a TTL signal from the function generator varying from a 0-volt to +3-volt square wave at a frequency of 1kHz. After this connection, we observed the both the input and output of the circuit triggered on external. We repeated this step after connecting input 2 to a 5-volt supply. Secondly, we connected two diodes, each in series with a 47Ω resistor, side by side on the breadboard, grounding them at the resistor. Then we connected a 1kΩ resistor to the top parts of the diodes and supplied it with 5-volts. The output was located in between the diodes and the 1kΩ resistor.
