Harsh Patel Final Test: Essay Question 60 11/17/2010 Harsh Patel 549 Apple Street Rochester, NY 19020 November 17, 2010 Lucy 366 Hulmeville Rd Bensalem, PA 19020 Dear Lucy, I write this letter to help you understand the true meaning of what Sartre meant by his statement that no one can really avoid the responsibility of choosing who they are. First of all let me give a brief introduction of Sartre. Sartre was a French philosopher and, he believed in philosophy called Existentialism. Existentialism is a philosophical movement which emphasizes on individual existence, freedom and choice. He also believed that GOD does not exist therefore everything we do is our responsibility and not GOD’s because he does not exist. Now, let’s get back to your argument. You are saying that you are saying that you are not responsible for who you are because you have an certain DNA structure, and because you were brought up in a certain culture, etc... I believe that Sartre would agree with you that you cannot change your physical form or choose to be something else such as a lion or a frog.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
