1 HK 253 Exam 3 Review Sheet Spring 2010 The following review sheet outlines the important topics that were covered in lecture that will be included on the exam. In addition to these topics there will be questions from each of the readings that were assigned (required readings are listed for each topic below). The exam will be a combination of multiple choice and short answer. You will have the whole class period to complete the exam. Exam 3 on April 20st. 1. Reflexes (Chapter 9) a. What are reflexes? b. How do reflexes differ from spontaneous movements? c. How do infant reflexes differ from lifespan reflexes? d. What are some reasons why reflexes are needed? e. What is the purpose of reflexes? f. Know how reflexes can be used as a diagnostic tool and the four factors associated with neurological dysfunction. g. Why study reflexes? h. What are the two theories as to how reflexes lead to voluntary behavior? i. Know the primitive reflexes (stimulus and response) and the timeline of each. j. Know the postural reflexes (stimulus and response) and the timeline of each. k. Are there any cultural variations in reflexes? Explain. 2.
