because farms and companies were producing too much and had to lay off
workers and loose money on crops

Imbalance of wealth-what about the poor

Banking reform
•
Emergency Banking Act and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
•
Banks could be safely reopened to release funds from the reconstruction finance
corporation to increase their assets
•
Government would reimburse them for deposits if banks failed
•
Federal funds if they subjected to federal regulation and oversee

Job Relief Programs
•
Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA)
o
Created jobs for the unemployed
o
Worked with the civilian conservation corps (CCC)
Gave men dignity rather than surviving on welfare
•
Works Progress Administration (WPA)
o
Government funded jobs on public works to give employment
