How have Americans' attitudes toward unmarried adults - women, particularly - changed  over time? In this paper, you will watch segments of two TV shows that were popular in  their day - the Mary Tyler Moore show (in the early 1970s) and Sex and the City (in the  late 1990s). The Mary Tyler Moore show focused on the life of 30 year old Mary  Richards, a single career "gal" who worked at a Minneapolis television station. Sex and  the City, as you are all probably aware, focused on four unmarried career women who  lived in New York City. All were in their 30s. After you watch the segments from these two shows, write an essay in which you  discuss the positive aspects of being unmarried that "pull" people toward it (i.e., that  attract people to being single) and the negative aspects of being married that "push"  people away from marriage and toward being single. Be sure to address the prevailing
