HIS 354 – Women in US History, 1600-1870 Reading Assessment Assignment Purpose: Reading Assessments are designed to encourage you to read for content and argument. You should develop skills allowing you to read quickly while distilling the major thesis, its development and evidentiary support, and your assessment of its viability. You should be able to analyze how an argument is constructed and then evaluate the argument. Assignment : Use the attached form for each Reading Assessment. They are due on the day of discussion listed on the syllabus and must be turned in during scheduled class time. Late assignments will not be accepted except under extraordinary circumstances. Assignments will not be accepted via email unless prior arrangements are made. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Depending on the text, each category should be anywhere from 2-3 sentences to a short paragraph. Do not exceed 2 pages for the assignment. Be succinct and concise! Use complete sentences.
