Ryan Wisneski Psy2012-04 Due: April 17, 2008 Extra Credit Paper Requiem for a Dream In the movie Requiem for a Dream the movie depicts the lives of three teens and an older mother Sarah. In the movie each one has their own dream or aspiration on what they want to become and what they must do to get there. Sarah has the dream of being on TV and when she gets what seems like an opportunity she goes on a dangerous diet that involves taking massive amounts of diet pills. These pills turn into an addiction and soon she finds herself unaware of the seriousness of her addiction to speed. The kids all find themselves in a somewhat similar position. The two boys are always looking to get high on heroine and this leads to their aspirations of making it big selling drugs. Similarly the girl Marion tries to break away from her rich parents and to become completely independent but is addicted to cocaine. This all leads to big troubles for all of them that in turn lead to their downfall. In this movie all the characters suffer from intense forms of substance abuse.
