Ryan Wisneski R08009815 BSC 1005 This article is about some of the amazing research that scientists are doing with regards to curing cancer and also finding a way to prevent it. The studies on tadpoles revealed a compound that successfully blocks the movement of the pigment cells that are responsible for the markings of a tadpole. This is significant because the uncontrolled movement of harmful pigment cells in a human being is the underlying cause of skin cancer. The name of the man-made compound is NSC 84093 and was tested in tadpoles to see if it was able to affect pigment cells at a very low concentration. The compound affected the continuous line that is visible down a tadpole’s back and changed the line entirely to individual blocks of color showing the success in controlling the movement of pigment cells. The next step for these researchers is to test the compound on other animals to see if it still has the same effectiveness. The eventual goal of these experiments is to
