VOCABULARY ASSIGNMENT AND SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES This is a group assignment. Your group will be responsible for presenting or teaching one list to the class during the semester. Your activity must include at least 75% of the words from the list. Your instructor will determine the length of your presentation. Below is a list of suggested activities. You may select from any of these or come up with another creative activity. If you choose an activity other than one listed here, you need your instructor’s approval. Some instructors may require a meeting with your group prior to your presentation. Once an activity has been used, it may not be repeated . You are to use visual aids, transparencies, and/or the chalkboard. This is to be an oral activity with active class participation. Index Cards - Match the word with its definition. Then write and present a sentence using a good context clue. 2. Jeopardy 3. Bingo 4. Word Search 5. Concentration 6. Word Scramble 7. Story with Sentence Completion 8. Antonyms and Synonyms 9. Baseball 10. Basketball 11. Pictionary 12. Charades 13. Give a list of 10 to 15 words to three or four groups and each group creates a story from its given words. 14. Riddles - Who Am I? or What is the Word? 15. Crossword Puzzles 16. Taboo Game - Give clues to a vocabulary word but never say the word. 17. Tic Tac Toe on the chalkboard

WEEKLY QUIZZES Weekly vocabulary quizzes will always consist of four sections. Except for Quiz 1, one section will always be sentence writing. In this part you will be given 10 words from which you will choose five. You will write a sentence containing context clue(s) for each word selected. This section will be worth 40 points. The other three sections (each with 10 questions) will vary each week and will be selected from the following list: 1. The student will choose the pair of words that best completes the meaning of the sentence.
