Appendix2: Employer confirmation letter ................................................................ 12 Executive Summary This report examines lack of communication among staff within a business, an issue which I encountered during my two weeks’ experience working at another restaurant in the organisation for which I work. The findings indicated that there was a lack of communication among front of house staff, and also between kitchen staff and front of house staff. I negotiated with the manager about potential action which could be taken in order to address the issue. Introduction I have completed an investigative project in which I had to find solutions to improve an organisation’s performance. I work as a 3

supervisor for Pizza Express, one of the UK’s most successful private restaurant businesses. I contacted my area manager, explained to him that I have to do a project for college and asked if it would be possible to work at another branch for two weeks in order to complete the work. I clarified to him what the project was about, and also explained how this project would benefit the branch. A few days later my manager informed me that for the next two weeks I would be working at the Alban Gate branch, one of the busiest branches in central London. During the first three working days at the Alban Gate branch I continuously monitored the operation of the service in order to find out its weaknesses.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
